Malawi: May 2014 Election compromised? (Updated Kiboko Hotel not involved, but copy shop located below this hotel definitely is)

According to the source who caught the Peoples Party (PP) operatives pants’ down, the article by Malawi’s newest on-liner, the Oracle, is in fact incomplete.

Wise One from the East is working hard, and will update this story – to give you the complete picture.

Abridged story as carried by the Oracle:

Peoples Party (PP) operatives are running a scheme that may have potentially dis-enfranchised unsuspecting voters who are being hoodwinked to part with their voter registration cards, on pretext that the operative needs the voter identification card to apply for fertilizer coupons on their behalf.

The operative goes on to photocopy the Voters Registration Card, opening the genuine card and inserting a photo of the person who will be used to actually cast the ballot using the card.

The color copy ID is sealed and returned to the owner.

On May 20, 2014 the compromised original will be used at the expense of the validly registered voter, who, apprehended for having a fake ID, will  be rejected.

According to Malawi social media reports, a copy bureau located downstairs the building housing Kiboko Town Hotel is the headquarters of this rigging scheme. Kiboko Town Hotel is in no way participating in this scheme as per clarification given by a Mr L Banda, copied verbatim below. This has been independently confirmed by main colleague on the touchline.

Please be advised that the Kiboko Town Hotel has no association with the above mentioned article. Also do we not have colour printers or copy machines at our premises used for the activities mentioned above. We further have never hosted any guests or conferences who are connected to the article mentioned above.

The pictures you are showing in your blog are clearly from a copyshop which is situated in an office building below our hotel but has nothing to do with the hotel at all as it separately rented by a completely different company!

Kindly clear the name of the Kiboko Town Hotel in this article as the use of it as the headquarter of the activities mentioned is false and inappropriate! Thank you very much.” L Banda
